Why would anyone Pre-plan their own funeral ?

PREPLANNING: As you know, the time following the loss of a loved one is probably the most painful and stressful period in all of life. Preplanning your own funeral or a family member's funeral can't relieve your family from all the details and decisions that need to be taken care of, but it can eliminate a significant part of the burden. If details are taken care of in advance, the funeral service can be a source of strength and relief -- not a source of more stress and anxiety. Some preplan because there may be no one left to make decisions, others may have very definite preferences; most, however, wish to spare survivors the often difficult decisions they may face at a time they are the least prepared for it. Preplanning is a simple matter to arrange and one of the important things you can do for yourself and your family. Like a will, preplanning gives you the assurance your final wishes will be carried out the way you want them. It protects your estate from unnecessary financial outlay and minimizes conflict among your survivors.

How Do I Proceed?

We can help in several ways: preselection of service and merchandise and prefinancing the services and merchandise.

PRESELECTION: We, at Morrison's can help you record your choice regarding cost, type of service, clergy, casket, cemetery and all necessary personal information.

PREFINANCING: Funds deposited toward payment of a funeral are either placed into a trust account or into and insurance or annuity policy that appreciates in value, helping to offset the impact of inflation. At the time of death, payment is made to the providing funeral home.

IS MY MONEY SECURE? Yes. 100% of all money paid to us in advance of need is deposited into a trust fund or an insurance or annuity plan. How your money is safeguarded is of great concern to us and we at Morrison's value your trust. The name on the sign is your assurance of integrity...since 1957.

MUST I PREARRANGE? No. Many people decline prearrangement for various reasons. Decisions then are made at the actual time of need.

Should I choose a funeral home or some other provider?

The choice is yours. Some other providers offer seemingly attractive prices along with various discount gimmicks. However, only a licensed funeral director can sell the funeral home's professional services. A funeral director can also offer vital help during and after bereavement, assistance in determining benefits due survivors as well as thoroughness with arrangements. We, at Morrison Funeral Home, believe a funeral is more than the casket and vault. It is assisting families before, during and after the time of need.

Where To Start

One of the best beginnings would be with our Life Resume. Many times for a family, the personal information is one of the hardest things to remember.

The next step would be to contact the funeral home, making an appointment to continue the planning. This step should include discussions regarding the costs involved with the type of funeral you have selected. You may also want to prepay the arrangements.

All of the arrangements should be discussed with your family, so they know you wishes as well.
