ImageEarl R. Kauffman, 81, of 4470 SR 417, Cooperstown, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born January 16, 1929 in Albion, he was a son of the late William and Hazel Lenox Kauffman.

Earl grew up in Erie and attended Erie schools.

He last worked for Anderson Coach & Tour of Greenville, for 39 Years, retiring in December 2000. He set up and drove tours in every state, except Oregon, but including Alaska. He also took tours to Hawaii.

Earl traveled extensively on his own, by land, sea and air. He was very impressed by a flight from England on the Concorde.

He as a Charter Member and past Assistant Chief of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.

Earl was very active in Masonic bodies. He was Past Master of Fraternal Lodge No 483 Rouseville, a member of Venango Lodge of Perfection and New Castle Consistory, a life member of Zem Zem Shrine, past president of Venango County Shrine Club, and rode in many parades with the Venango County Tri-Wheels.

He attended the Oakland United Methodist Church.

On August 5, 1950 he married Margaret Henney, who preceded him in death on November 5, 1992. In March 1994, he married the former Thelma Hasbrouck Deane, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Russell Kauffman and wife Nancy of Huntersville NC, and Douglas Kauffman and wife Tracy of Rouseville; one daughter, Mary Lehnortt of Dempseytown; one step-daughter, Lorraine L’Huillier and husband Daniel of Oil City; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one step granddaughter.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Clayton Kauffman, Edward Kauffman, Robert Kauffman, Burton Kauffman and Byron Kauffman, and one sister, Vivian Greenwald.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St, Oil City, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Edward P. Saxman and the Rev. Richard Roberts, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Oakland United Methodist Church, 3636 SR 417, Cooperstown 16317 or the Zem Zem Temple, Hospital Transportation Fund, 2525 West 38th St, Erie 16506.
